1、兰炭的主要特点（与烟煤的比较）：
1）固定碳含量较高，在80%以上；
2）挥发分较低，一般小于4%；
3）灰分小于6%左右；
4）性质类似于焦炭或无烟煤，但同焦炭和无烟煤相比较强度和抗碎性较差。强度和抗碎性较差，在炉内容易二次破碎，导致气化剂分布不均，炉况容易产生偏炉、结渣、火层上移火层过厚（长火现象），同时形成的灰渣过细，出灰比较困难等现象。
2、煤气炉运行稳定可靠的3个要素：
1）布风是否均匀；
2）出灰是否顺畅；
3）炉况是否能可靠控制。
为顺应国家环保要求，针对兰炭的特点并围绕以上要素，结合我公司原设计的常规炉型在云南驰宏（烧焦丁）和在越南某公司烧无烟煤的运行情况，我公司对原两段炉常规炉型进行了多项设计改造，专门设计出一套以兰炭为燃料的气化炉。
